Plymouth becomes an International City of Peace!

International Day of Peace: Sunday, September 21st 2025

Sunday, we were grateful to join as Plymouth celebrated becoming an International City of Peace! They also dedicated the day to Dick and Lillian Gregory, who are very instrumental in the civil rights movement and raised their 10 children in the town of Plymouth. I had the privilege of being the adoptive little sister to the family as my older siblings were close friends

The Gregory family was also very supportive of parting ways becoming a federally protected land during the 1970s as their friendship with Reverend Dr. Gomes has been one of support and upliftment.

Cosigners of the community Culture of Peace initiative are the Plymouth Noontime Rotary Club, Plymouth Sunrise Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, No Place for Hate organization, YMCA, Plymouth Public Library Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club, Plymouth Area League of Women Voters.

A special shoutout to Bill Kehon with the Town of Plymouth and Lewis M. Randa of The Peace Abbey Foundation.
