Parting Ways Digitization Project

In collaboration with the Plymouth Public Library

Parting Ways is a historic cemetery that holds the resting place of four African American veterans of the Revolutionary War. After fighting for a new nation’s freedom, these men and their families built a homestead here — a place of hope, resilience, and community. The Plymouth Public Library holds many important archives of the Parting Ways history such as legal documents, primary sources, military records and archeological findings.

Community Art Collaborative and the Plymouth Public Library are proud to announce an MLS student internship opportunity that will take on digitizing the Parting Ways Archive Collection at the library. This digitization project is so important to preserving history and providing broader access for students, historians, professors and more. It also provides an excellent educational experience for a local library science student.

This is a huge step towards gaining clearer insight and information for the public and our Parting Ways initiative and future public art installations!
